Autumn at Stetind by Trichardsen Autumn at Stetind by Trichardsen

Norways national mountain Stetind.
My coucin and I took a road trip from Sandefjord in Southern Norway to Tromsø in Northern Norway, which is a 1760km drive, seeing this mountain was the absolute highlight of the trip and it is without a doubt the most dramatic mountain I have ever seen, it is easy to understand that many climbers fail to climb it. :)

Image captured at Stetind, Nordland, Northern Norway.
Nikon D810, 15mm.

It's not just the dramatic stark mountain against the dramatic sky that makes this piece work but also the contrast with the long exposure making the water soft but highlighting the bright clarity of the leaves and rocks with that Fall foliage in between. That bit of cloud that is shaped like lightning doesn't hurt either! This should be niminated for a DD--I'd do it but haven't quite figure out how to that yet. Anyone else out there who can?

Normally I try to not shoot much mid-day as the light quality often isnt optimal, but in this case it worked very well.

I am sure you will reach your goal, personally from looking at some of my earlier pictures and comparing them to my current ones it is a clear difference, so progress is something that is bound to happen.

Gorgeous image, as far as I saw, the most beautiful of this mountain! The journey must have been wonderful,
I cannot imagine a place more beautiful in the world to be at than Norway in autumn :D
Though it's a really tough decision, I think it is one of the best shots you have ever taken.

Thanks so very much.

The road trip was awesome, only thing was that it didnt give too much time on each location, so I didnt get the chance to explore the area and wait for sunset, but with the conditions that was the image came out much better than I had anticipated beforehand.
Norway in autumn is really beautiful, unfortunately in the north the autumn can be extremely short, but the time it is it is absolutely stunning.

Thanks for the answer! I am sorry for my late response, but over
the past few weeks there was a lot of school stress so I didn't really make it to dA CURSE YOU!

That's great to hear :D One can't have everything, but there are
sure opportunities to spend some more time on these beautiful spots after.

I would love to see Norway in autumn!
Here in Germany most trees are spruce and stay green year-round, the
only thing that happens here in autumn is that the weather gets colder.
Concerning this, there's a thing about Norwegians that I am really curious about:
How do you get along with the seemingly everlasting darkness and bad weather in winter?
You live in Tromsö, landscape-wise one of the most beautiful cities in the world,
but I would get crazy for not seeing the sun in two months!

And I wanted to ask whether you would allow me to use some of your photos to show them
in a presentation at school? It is about nature photography and I would love to use some of
your Northern lights images with your permission.                               Have a nice day! :) (Smile)

You are welcome, dont worry about the late reply, its life :)

Well, getting used to the dark takes a little time, but you do get used to it, if you aren´t used to it, it can be a bit rough in the beginning.
If you can present the photos via the web then you can, I am currently in Southern Norway and don´t have access to my files so i can´t send you any files.

Go to my website: www.tommyrichardsen.com/ and you can see a bit larger versions.

You have a nice day as well.

Oh well, I think the Polar lights, and the summerly Midnight sun could
make up for that :)
Yeah that should be possible, thank you! No problem, if it doesn't function
I do still have the photos of the Natural History Museum.
