Bleeding Mountain by Trichardsen Bleeding Mountain by Trichardsen
Trichardsen // Tommy Richardsen // Facebook // flickr // 500px  // Google+

Sunset yesterday and until 2am this morning was one for the ages, I can´t remember to have seen better.
This is one of the captures from a weird but amazing 9 hour trip around Nordreisa.

Captured in Nordreisa, Troms, Northern Norway.
Nikon D810, 15mm, F13, Iso 64, 1/4 - 6 shot panorama.

I would like to start by saying, that this is a beautiful photo. The way it moves with your eyes, and the spotlight of the sun just immediately draws you in. But the dark contrast of everything else is so much, that it almost overrides the little blast of color. It gives it an almost rotting feel, but it makes it beautiful because the light is a feeling of life.. This could be what your going for, and it is amazing. A fantastic contrast. Just be careful to not drown out the light of colors with the darkness of shadows.. :glomp:

First off, I love how there appears to be a fire in the sky! In my opinion it is very unique and a good contrast with the scene. I wonder how you captured this red yet no other pop of color rather than its reflection.
The reflection of the sky and mountains is amazing, as well as the angle and view this photograph was captured at. I also appreciate how the redness of the sky can be seen on the closest mountain.
The horizon displays flaming heat, yet it surroundings including the mountains, rocky shore and cliffs suggest coldness and isolation to me. If there was more color in the sky at the horizon I think it would improve the coldness.
The scene as a whole looks as if it could be from ancient times…I can see the firey clouds being from dragon’s mouths. For some reason I also think of The Lord of The Rings as well—maybe because of the red-orange clouds and their appearance on the closest mountain reminds me of Mordor?
I love this overall photograph. My eyes may focus on the fire in the sky, but I am also able to take in the entire scene. Brilliant. Just Brilliant.

The feeling of this images is one of coldness (in temperature), with a glimmer of warmth coming from the sun and its reflection. The white appearance of the foreground rocks and the cliff face add to the impression of it being cold, so you have conveyed an atmosphere in this image that can be 'felt' by the viewer. The 'Bleeding Mountain' adds to the mystique of the image also adding to the atmosphere. The glass-like water adds a beautiful stillness to the image. Overall the images has a cool and lonely feel to it, but in such an artistic beautiful way making this a stunning work of art.

Composition: The horizontal horizon line of thewater is close to the bottom 'Rule of Thirds' horizontal line. The Bleeding Mountain is positioned in the right hand 'Rule of Thirds' area, so composition wise, it follows the 'rules' closely.
Exposure: There is definition throughout the light and dark areas of the image, so the exposure works well in this image.

Focus: Small aperture, low ISO and slow shutter speed (and obviously tripod mounted) produced a crisp, clear image that is pleasing to viwe.

My Opinion: I love everything about it! Great work!

Love the beautiful dramatic sky, the superb reflection :faint:
My favorite type of scene in a landscape photo
and the awesome texture of the rocks exposed just enough for a glimpse
and to feel the landscape part of it

Okay, every time i check your pictures, I can't decide which one to fave and comment. I would type my fingers to death if I commented on every of your shots! They are all very amazing.

Anyhow, this landscape is very extraordinary. The reflection of the mountains in the water at the back is well done, you can see most of the details, still! I tried it a couple of times myself and it can be very difficult - especially when it's windy, but despite that, you managed it perfectly!
the mountain on the right is reflecting the sun's colour really nicely - it does seem like the very far back is burning indeed causing the mountain to react on it.
The clouds - darn you're lucky - they look like they are taking in the colour from the sun/fire. Seriously, very very beautiful and peaceful as well. Thank you! :)

Best Wishes

you would not need a top of the line camera to do this shot, a regular 200$ camera and an ok lens would do the job just fine.

You're more than welcome.
I know my D3000 camera can shot amazing pics, but the great sensor of this D810 would help a lot hahaha.

It does depend on what you shoot, if you do a lot of images in low light conditions then yes a full frame camera would certainly make a world of difference, if you want to get even shallower depth of field, then also yes, get a full frame camera, otherwise you can do just fine with the D3000, and you can shoot those conditions I mentioned, its just that the image will not come out with the same quality.

I was becoming concerned: nothing for a week, which is disturbing. You could have been arrested (or abducted) for making too many stunning photos at night, you know. People do their cats and selfie routines, then go online to post them to other people who do cats and selfie routines, and then they suddenly see your photos, possibly get jelous and vicious (Salieri slyle), then one thing leads to another and.. bam! Weeping and lamenting, end of story. In short, the point is: keep them coming. :)
