was shooting a time-lapse sequence of the aurora while the airplane was coming in, as I was shooting at 8 seconds I got the full trail as the plane was landing which paired up quite nicely with the northern lights.

Now this is not a photomanipulation, all I have done here is warm it up by 20-25% and crop it in tighter on the lights.

Shot with Nikon D800, 14-24mm f/2.8 @ 14mm, f/2.8, ISO 800, 8 seconds

*Hope Im not flooding your inboxes with submissions. I guess im just a bit addicted to photography. :D

It is an amazing visual! It feels almost surreal, like you tapped into something not quite on our plane (no pun intended). The town gives it a nice balance by being the prosaic inside the amazing. The rock formation in the forground is a bit odd, but adds a bit of permenency. Because of the 8 second time lapse you get a great feel of the Aurora and of the waters movement. The rippling in the rocks in the forground adds a nice sense of movement.

I don't feel it is dry, but it does come off as cold but inviting.
Good job.

This is an absolutely fantastic photo, something that I would love to have the chance to capture in a similar fashion at some point.

The aurora borealis is impressive and detailed, the stars shine through nice and bright and create a beautiful canvas, and the light trails coming from the aircraft are definitely an interesting albeit slightly distracting aspect.

I do think the lights are a little over-powering amongst the whole of the photo, they really stand out and take the eyes away from the beautiful aurora presented on the other side. On the flip side, those same lights create great lighting for the foreground which would have otherwise been left dark and barely visible.

Overall this is a beautiful photo with some very unique aspects, and I encourage you to keep up the amazing work. There is a lot of talent here, keep at it!
