Been hoping to get the right conditions to take this photo, managed to get it right after midnight tonight ( 09.10.13 ) during the CME that hit.

My eye is drawn fairly quickly to the light bar in the bottom left, which is very distracting. From what you have said in the comments, it is a piece of light artwork, unfortunately you can't tell that from the image itself, as it has no discernible form. It also seems to be producing a shadow(?) of some kind to the top right of it, which I think detracts from the aurora.
I like how you have included the trees, and the rock shelf which are both crisp and clear. They stop it from being just an image of the northern lights and make it a wonderful night scene.
The timing was just right...
The CME shots attract the eye more because of variant colours, but all are just as impressive... thanks for the continued documentation... have you thought of a youtube channel of your work, many people online follow space weather and would love vids about the effects witnessed on the poles
