Aurora Borealis, perhaps one of the most beautiful phenomena that can be seen in the sky. As it brightens up the dark days of winter, and makes the snow reflect the colors in the sky.
This image captures the northern lights in a beautiful way, as well as showing the beautiful scenery in northern Norway.

The composition is very nice, with strong lines, and a road that leads the eyes in to the image towards the brightly lit town.
The flowing lines of the northern lights make for a nice diagonal as well as beautiful colors.
This photo is captured with such nice detail. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Tusen takk for at du viser eit so flott bilete frå fedrelandet.

When I initially opened the piece, I quickly focused on the bright green of the sky but then my eyes became very busy as I tried to take in everything else that the photograph has to offer.

The composition is structured in a way that feels pleasant to me, with clean, strong lines that help move you around the different areas of the photo. The photo itself seems to have a number of different pieces that gives it the overall impact that I rated so highly.

Firstly, and most noticeably, the Aurora Borealis itself, with the clean, elegant silkiness from the exposure. Secondly, the mountain side and road on the right of the image, with strong, bold lines that help create a sense of scale as well as directing you towards the third element of the photo: the town at the waters edge. Again the exposure treats us, but this time with delightful flares of light, reflected back in the water. The town also helps emphasise the scale of the area captured in the piece.

Whilst good photos of the Northern Lights are hardly rare these days, this one stands out from the crowd given the 'complexity' and variety of scenes in this one, larger scene.
