Spent 6 hours chasing the aurora yesterday, and when it finally started to show I was in the wrong place, at least I thought, but it ended up much better than I had anticipated.
My goal for this was to give the feel of being pulled into the picture and up into the sky.
Shot at a local church during full moon and with lights shining on the building.
nikon D800, 14 mm, ISO 1600, 2 seconds, which turned everthing but the sky overexposed, so I reduced the exposure on the church and darkened the shadows by a touch.

This is another beautiful photo at night, yes at night. Night is a wonderful time to look at the stars, comets, planets and more. Aurorae are the most beautiful things I'd love to see after hurricanes to refresh my mind from tragedy. The photo is totally amazing, you took a picture of this from the ground and the tree's shadow on the church walls are giving it a more beautiful aspect. The only problem is the clouds and the light that makes the place look more snowy than usual. The stars are not much to be seen but that's fine. Good work.
Thank you very much. This was actualy a spur of the moment thing, a buddy and I was driving around when suddenly the aurora started to dance across the sky, and the first idea and the closest place was actually at that place.
Thank you very much. yeah sometimes you have some luck and make such a shot in 1 image, I knew I wanted the rising moon, but the aurora was unexpected.
