I´ve seen many auroras in my life, but never anything like this, it lit up the entire sky.

First time ive gotten the shakes from the adrenaline when seeing the northern lights.

Shot with nikon d800, 14-24 @ 14mm, f/2.8, 4 seconds, Iso 1600.

Thank you very much.
This was a M1.6 and the level around 200 gigawatts, so pretty insane really :)

WoW! Don't think I can add anything to all that has already been said, except to include my own sense of awe for your work/ability and your subject matter. I'm still amazed at the combination of what looks much like a watercolor wash horizontally with the vertical shafts that look like light. Thanks for sharing these with us!

Yeah you cant get a dd if you have gotten one within 6 months, a rather understandable rule with so many users on the page. :)

Thanks again. :)

Thank you so much.

It does vary quite a bit, the usual speed when photons hit the magnetic field is around 400 km/s, but it can move as slow as 300 and as fast as 6-700 all depending, but in general it is quite fast yes.

Speechless,,, How long can you see the auroras in the sky...??
I mean...does it last a few minutes, or more?

Thank you.
It all depends, it can last from a mere 5 minutes up to a whole day.
